Thursday Night Football to be streamed live on Twitter

Thursday-Night-Football

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced on Tuesday that “Thursday Night Football” will be streamed live on Twitter during the 2016 NFL season.

Twitter was one of several social media companies vying for the opportunity to stream NFL games, and the little blue bird won the bid. Goodell fittingly made the announcement on his own Twitter account.

The NFL has already agreed to a deal to expand “Thursday Night Football” this season, with CBS and NBC each owning five games that will be simulcast on NFL Network.

Last season, Yahoo! Sports streamed the Jacksonville Jaguars-Buffalo Bills game from London, and that was considered a success. We recently learned that the NFL is looking to schedule games in other countries overseas, so live-streaming on social media is yet another way to globalize the NFL brand.
