Von Miller reportedly claims he is being extorted over sex tape

Von Miller

Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller is wrapped up in a legal battle over a sex tape that was recorded while he was vacationing in Cancun months ago, according to a report.

Court documents obtained by The Smoking Gun show that a man using the pseudonym “Doe” is petitioning a Los Angeles judge to block a woman he had sex with from distributing or selling a video she allegedly recorded on her phone. Both The Smoking Gun and TMZ have confirmed that “Doe” — described in the documents as “one of the most talented people at his craft in the U.S. and the world” — is Miller.

A judge has already filed a temporary restraining order barring the woman, Elizabeth Ruiz, from distributing, copying or releasing the tape for any reason. Miller claims he engaged in “consensual sexual intercourse” with Ruiz and that Ruiz recorded the act. Miller’s attorney says the reigning Super Bowl MVP insisted the recording be kept private, and Ruiz agreed. When Miller returned to the U.S. and contacted Ruiz to ask her to delete the video, she allegedly responded with a text message that said “Gotcha.”

However, Miller claims he was contacted by Kevin Blatt, an L.A. businessman who has brokered the sale of celebrity sex tapes, informing him that Ruiz had asked Blatt for assistance with selling the tape she recorded. Shortly thereafter, a lawyer representing Ruiz contacted Miller and offered to sell him the recording for $2.5 million if he did not want it released publicly.

Miller’s lawyers are arguing that a judge should grant a restraining order in part because Miller “depends on the appeal of his persona to many different people from virtually all walks of life, including families and children.” Having the tape released would hurt Miller’s brand, according to his legal team.

Miller likes to have a good time, and the outfit he once wore to a Las Vegas pool party reminds us of that. There’s nothing wrong with that, but the former No. 2 overall pick had a serious lapse in judgment if he agreed to allow a woman to record him and trusted her to keep the recording private.
