Bruins forward Shawn Thornton was cut above the eye during the second period of Boston’s home win over Chicago on Tuesday night. Thornton was going for a check on Fernando Pisani when the two collided and fell to the ice, and Thornton was cut by the blade of Pisani’s skate. Here’s a video of the play in case you missed it (the action is about 28 seconds in):
Thornton wasn’t too upset about taking the incidental skate to the face. He was really ticked off over what was said to him by the Chicago bench as he was skating off the ice. He couldn’t reveal what was said nor by whom, but he sure was steamed about it after the game. His team took care of him luckily, winning 3-0.
