Chuck Knoblauch won’t be honored by Twins after alleged assault on ex-wife Cheri

Cheri Olvera Chuck Knoblauch

Chuck Knoblauch will not be honored by the Minnesota Twins next month after he was arrested Wednesday night for allegedly assaulting his ex-wife Cheri Knoblauch.

Knoblauch, who was the 1991 AL Rookie of the Year and a four-time All-Star with the Twins, was scheduled to be inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame, but the team cancelled that in light of the arrest.

According to KHOU, Knoblauch, 46, is charged with assault of a family member after allegedly hitting Cheri Knoblauch. He was released after posting $10,000 bond.

Here are details on the alleged incident via KHOU:

Cheri, 37, told police she was napping with her child when Knoblauch barged into the child’s bedroom and began yelling at her.

She said he bashed her head into the wall, hit her in the face and threw a humidifier at her.

Knoblauch’s sister, who was staying in the home, said she heard Cheri screaming and saw her brother chasing her through the house. She told officers she witnessed Chuck hitting Cheri repeatedly in the chest and arm. The two women and child fled the house and called police from Knoblauch’s sister’s house.

Memorial Villages police officers arrested Knoblauch and said he appeared “extremely intoxicated.”

Knoblauch has a history of domestic violence. He was convicted in 2010 of hitting previous ex-wife Stacey Stelmach.

Knoblauch and the former Cheri Olvera were married in 2011. As another interesting twist to the story, Cheri Knoblauch is the ex-girlfriend of longtime MLB player Brian Giles. Giles and Cheri were in a nasty legal battle over a domestic violence charge, not to mention Cheri’s claim that they had a financial agreement in case they broke up.

Cheri once left this profanity-laced abusive voicemail for Giles. The language is offensive, but it’s incredible.

For those of you keeping track, this marks two ex-wives Knoblauch supposedly hit. This also is the second ex-boyfriend (and former MLB All-Star) in a row who supposedly beat Olvera.

Oh yeah, let’s also remember that Cheri was once attacked by a dildo-wielding Anna Benson.

Here is the Twins’ statement on the cancelled plans:

“In light of recent news reports surrounding Chuck Knoblauch, as well as direct communication with the former Twins second baseman, the Minnesota Twins have decided to cancel the team’s 2014 Hall of Fame induction ceremony scheduled for August 23 at Target Field. In January of this year, Knoblauch was elected by a 62-member committee consisting of local and national media, club officials, fans and past elected members, using rules similar to those necessary for election to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.”

Cheri Olvera, Chuck Knoblauch get Married

For those of you who are new to the case, Cheri Olvera is the ex-girlfriend of former All-Star Brian Giles. The two are in court settling a lawsuit raised by Olvera against Giles alleging breach of an oral and/or implied agreement they had while they were together, and domestic violence. The defense team at the law offices of James D. Scott have counter-sued, alleging abuse by Olvera (which is supported by this profanity-laced voice mail played in court). They’ve also argued that Olvera targets wealthy athletes to help support her desired lifestyle, which her engagement to former All-Star Chuck Knoblauch indicates.

To update you on matters, Olvera posted on her facebook page (displayed below) this week that the two are now married. She changed her last name to Knoblauch and changed her marital status from engaged to married. Their sudden marriage further supports her athlete-chasing ways, as did Mr. Knoblauch’s deposition that was played in court during the week.

During his deposition, Chuck listed some of the gifts he’s bought for Cheri during their time together. The list comes out to just shy of $50,000 based on Chuck’s estimates:

Brian Giles’ Ex-Girlfriend Cheri Olvera Engaged to Chuck Knoblauch

Talk about a strange MLB love triangle … Brian Giles‘ ex-girlfriend Cheri Olvera is now engaged to former Twins and Yankees second baseman Chuck Knoblauch. Giles is a former two-time All-Star who had four straight godly seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates. The San Diego native dated Olvera from 2002-2008 and the two were engaged but never got married.

Olvera is suing Giles for breach of an oral and/or implied agreement she says the two had while they were together that they would divide their property if their relationship were to dissolve. Olvera is also seeking damages for domestic violence she alleges took place while they were together.

The crazy twist is that the ballplayer-chasing Olvera has found a new man.

She and Chuck Knoblauch are now engaged. Making matters more complicated is that Knoblauch pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault last year for choking his former common-law wife, but that obviously isn’t a concern for Cheri.
