Dan Gilbert Sacked by the LBS Nut Bag for Pathetically Attacking Writer Kelly Dwyer

Over the past year we’ve come to learn that Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert is quite the jackass. The night LeBron James decided to leave Cleveland for Miami, a livid and chilidish Gilbert fired off an angry letter to the fans ripping LeBron to shreds. Then a few months later he continued to rip LeBron, only this time on twitter. Then in December we learned Gilbert was hiring a law firm to investigate the Miami Heat for tampering. Yeah, this guy is quite the jerk, and for all his offenses he is formally getting sacked by the LBS Nut Bag.

Gilbert’s latest juvenile display includes mocking Yahoo! Sports writer Kelly Dwyer who had predicted the Cavs would win 12 games this season, as I learned from Cleveland sports site Waiting for Next Year.

After the Cavs beat the Kings Wednesday night, a fan pointed out to Gilbert that the Cavs won their 13th game thereby surpassing Dwyer’s prediction. Gilbert then replied “Who is Kellie Dwyer?” He followed it up saying “How long has Kellie been writing? Never heard of her.”

Dan Gilbert, Cavs Hire Law Firm to Investigate Miami Heat Tampering

If Dan Gilbert expects people to believe that he’s “over” LeBron James after he was angry enough to send Cavaliers fans this letter just a few months ago, he’s even crazier than we thought.  What’s particularly convenient about the whole LeBron returning to Cleveland situation is that just one day after Gilbert told reporters he has moved on from King James, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports is reporting something quite contradictory.

According to Wojnarowski, the Cavs have dumped “hundreds of thousands of dollars” into a well-known Midwestern law firm to investigate the notion that the Miami Heat broke NBA tampering rules when pursuing LeBron James.  Two sources with direct knowledge of the situation even told Yahoo! Sports that Gilbert will “spare no expense to uncover whatever evidence he can to take to the league office.”  If those are the actions of a man who no longer cares, I’d hate to see what Gilbert would do if he was still upset.

By league standards, the Heat obviously tampered with LeBron.  No Miami representative was allowed to speak with James about joining the Heat prior to the start of free agency on July 1.  I don’t think there’s a person in the world who thinks LeBron, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh haven’t been talking about the possibility of playing together for about two years now.  Just look at this report, which is from June 29.  Proving it?  That will be a difficult — if not impossible — task.

Dan Gilbert Takes Shots at LeBron on Twitter, Needs to Get Over It

Cleveland Cavs owner Dan Gilbert seems to find ways to make himself look increasingly immature by the day.  It’s been almost three months since LeBron James announced he was leaving Cleveland, but it’s obvious the Cavs owner hasn’t been able to get past it.  The letter he wrote to Cleveland Cavs fans was a childish move, but we could at least excuse it as something he did while furious in the heat of the moment.

Gilbert has now resorted to acting like a teenager and taking subtle shots at LeBron on Twitter.  Check out this ridiculous Tweet from his verified Twitter account:

Gilbert is probably reacting to LeBron’s claim that race played a role in the backlash he received after making his decision.  I guess he thought the best way to express himself would be to say things like “a-hole” and “b4.”  Fans can burn jerseys and create angry t-shirts because they’re fans and that’s what they do when they’re mad.  But if I were a Cavs fan I’d be just as worried about my owner being on full tilt as I was about losing my star player.

The season is getting closer and it’s obvious Gilbert can’t turn the page.  The franchise is going to have enough time recovering as it is after losing LeBron, let alone have to deal with an owner who can’t let it go.  If King James’ departure has left a permanent scar on the Cavs’ owner, they could end up being a franchise in ruin for longer than they anticipated.

Cavs Owner Completely Rips LeBron

If it’s any consolation to Cleveland Cavaliers fans, their team owner is just as angry as they are and not afraid to show it.  In an open letter to Cavs fans, majority owner Dan Gilbert called out LeBron James for skipping town.  Gilbert even went so far as to say that his actions are a “cowardly betrayal.”  Here in the sports blogging business, we tend to write with our emotions pretty frequently.  I’m not sure that’s ever something the majority owner of an NBA franchise should do.

However — writing in a font that is clearly attempting to prove to fans that he’s just an ordinary guy –  Gilbert did exactly that.  Mark Cuban has done some insane, over-the-top things in his time as Dallas Mavericks owner and I don’t recall any of it being this harsh.  Gilbert is worse than the jersey burners.  I encourage you to read the entire letter, but I’ve picked out some of the more intense parts.  Let’s analyze them as we go, shall we?

As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his “decision” unlike anything ever “witnessed” in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.
