This is why playing soccer in hurricane-like conditions can be tricky. And if you must, keep the ball on the ground. During a friendly match against Dynamo Kiev on Wednesday, Maccabi Haifa goalie Assaf Mendes attempted to boot the ball downfield to his teammates. As you can see from the video that 101 Great Goals shared with us, the end result was quite the opposite and he ended up scoring an own goal.
If someone has ever told you to not piss into the wind, this is exactly what they were talking about.
