Aaron Boone loses his cool during podcast appearance

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone grew frustrated with a line of questions recently over whether the team is taking things seriously enough amid a rough patch.

In his regular appearance on Jomboy Media’s “Talkin’ Yanks” podcast, Boone grew frustrated with the insinuation that the Yankees did not care enough or were not animated enough in the face of recent losses. He vented frustration with “pestering, bantering, leading questions” from the media and grew quite animated at times.

“Everyone’s different. Stop with the reaction of how a guy answers a frickin’ question,” Boone told host Jomboy. “Some people will give you colorful answers. Some guys throw their helmet. Does that make you feel good? Some guys are calm. Stop it. It doesn’t mean a guy cares more or less because he dives into home plate.”

Boone defended his players by pointing out that they weren’t “robots,” to which Jomboy responded that he “wanted more non-robotic answers.”

“I don’t care what you want,” Boone snapped. “These are answers of pestering, everyday questions. I want our guys locked in.”

The complaint that the Yankees come off as too laid-back is a common one that Boone has had to address before. Ironically, the fact that he got so animated about it here might actually be the sort of emotions that fans have found lacking.

The Yankees led the AL East by as much as seven games in late May, but have completely lost that lead by going 21-23 since the start of June. They now trail the Toronto Blue Jays by three games entering play Wednesday.
