
We now have a new injury that can rival Amar’e Stoudemire’s utterly gruesome battle wound.
In his Red Sox debut on Saturday, pitcher Aaron Cook received the ugly gash on his leg that you’re seeing above. He suffered the injury when Orioles DH Chris Davis spiked him sliding into home during the second inning. The cut needed 11 stitches to close up, and on Sunday Cook was sent to the 15-day DL.
The above image is a more tame look at the injury. (It looks more like somebody’s chapped lips in that photo than a bad wound.) So, if looking at horrifying leg gashes is your thing, here’s a more grisly look at Cook’s leg:
