Adrian Beltre reportedly suffers setback with calf injury
The Texas Rangers will have to wait a little while longer for four-time All-Star third baseman Adrian Beltre to make his season debut.
TR Sullivan of MLB.com reports on Tuesday that Beltre suffered a setback with his calf injury and that the Rangers are awaiting the results of an MRI.

The 38-year-old Beltre, who hit .300/.358/.521 with 32 home runs and 104 RBIs last season, strained the calf back in February but played for his native Dominican Republic in March’s World Baseball Classic. He also made a handful of appearances in Cactus League play, but the injury apparently flared up again, and Beltre began the season on the 10-day disabled list.
23-year-old Joey Gallo has been a decent fill-in for Beltre with two home runs and seven RBIs in the Rangers’ first six games. But given Beltre’s age and his recent injury history, it’s a concerning development for the 19-year veteran.
