Adrian Gonzalez is proving that you can be a great family man despite being on the road with a professional baseball team.
LBS friend Andrew Ungvari tweeted to share that Gonzalez was in attendance for his daughter’s dance recital on Saturday. What makes Gonzalez’s attendance special is that the Dodgers are in San Diego for a series — nearly 130 miles from the location of the dance event.
Gonzalez’s Dodgers lost to the Padres 7-6 on Friday night in a game that finished after 11:00 pm PT. That means the slugger traveled from San Diego back to Los Angeles either after the game or early in the day on Saturday, because he was in attendance for Saturday’s recital. Gonzalez was impressively back in San Diego on time to be written into the lineup as the team’s cleanup hitter and first baseman for Saturday night’s game — a total of 250 or so miles roundtrip in a short period of time.
We see so many stories about notable athletes being supposed deadbeat dads, so when there’s a story like this out there, it’s worth sharing.
