Alex Rodriguez has interesting take on Astros scandal
Few athletes know what it’s like to be a pariah quite like Alex Rodriguez does.
Rodriguez was suspended for PED use during his career, and it made him one of the most unpopular players in the sport, particularly in road games. He had to essentially rebuild his image from scratch as a result.
Now an ESPN commentator, Rodriguez had no sympathy for Astros players in light of their cheating scandal. He criticized the players for failing to offer an “authentic apology,” adding that they have “earned” everything coming their way. He noted how he tried to show contrition after his own suspension and then stopped talking to try to let his play do the talking.

This is interesting from Rodriguez, who has certainly been through it from a PR standpoint. Many players agree with Rodriguez’s assessment that the apologies are weak, and Houston might be wise to take A-Rod’s advice here. Ultimately, though, it might be too late for them to start turning public opinion back their way.
The Houston Astros are confirmed cheaters and deserve an asterisk. Send that message by wearing our Houston Asterisks T-shirt! You can buy it here:
