Andrew McCutchen bids farewell to Pirates fans in Twitter post
Andrew McCutchen has emerged as a legitimate superstar with the Pittsburgh Pirates over the past several years, and the star outfielder is now preparing for a new chapter in his career.
Shortly after reports surfaced that McCutchen has been traded to the San Francisco Giants, he took to Twitter to bid farewell to the Pirates and their fans. McCutchen also said he will eventually share more of his thoughts via The Players’ Tribune.
Pittsburgh. My Home.My Fans.My City. The placed that raised me and helped mold me into the man I am today. You will 4ever be in my heart.A tip of the cap to all who have been on this journey with me. With Love and respect,

McCutchen has been one of the most consistent players in baseball throughout his career. He has appeared in 150 or more games in each of the past eight seasons and logged no less than 21 home runs and 79 RBI in each of the past seven. McCutchen was voted to the All-Star team five times and named the NL MVP in 2013.
McCutchen won’t turn 32 until October, so he is still very much in his prime. He is entering the final year of his contract, but it would not be a surprise if the Giants try to sign him to an extension.
