The Los Angeles Angels on Friday had their first home game since Tyler Skaggs’ death. The team planned to honor Skaggs with a pregame ceremony that would include his family. They also commemorated Skaggs with signage throughout the stadium.
An image of the late Angels pitcher was placed on the outfield wall. More posters were featured around the stadium.
The apartment building that resides in the Angel Stadium parking lot put up a banner for Tyler Skaggs. In the clubhouse, the team preserved his locker and put his slogan, “We’re nasty,” above their schedule. His image resides on the CF wall. Skaggs was found dead on July 1 at the Texas hotel where the team was staying ahead of their game against the Rangers later that night. The cause of death is not scheduled to be announced until October. Police said neither foul play nor suicide was suspected.
The 27-year-old southpaw was 28-38 with a 4.41 career ERA and was having a solid season for the Angels.
