The Los Angeles Angels’ injury luck is quickly going from bad to farcical.
On Friday, just hours after Angels star Shohei Ohtani was placed on the disabled list with a UCL sprain in his pitching elbow, manager Mike Scioscia told the media that infielder Kaleb Cowart sprained his ankle stepping off the team bus on Thursday, per Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com.
Cowart, 26, has been used sparingly so far this year, making just five total plate appearances and going back and forth between the Angels and Triple-A Salt Lake. He has since been placed on the disabled list with his injury as well.

After a scorching start to the 2018 season, the Angels are now just third in the American League West at 35-28 (though they have won their last four straight games). The injury bug is hitting them in full force right now, and Cowart isn’t even the first Angel to hurt himself on a literal misstep this week.
