The baseball gods delivered a late Father’s Day gift to one dad in the stands during Friday’s Atlanta Braves-Miami Marlins clash.
Braves starting pitcher Didier Fuentes made his MLB debut in front of his father at LoanDepot Park in Miami, Fla. The Fuentes family got a special moment even before The 20-year-old threw out his first pitch.
With two outs and the bases empty in the top of the first inning, Marlins pitcher Janson Junk threw a 1-1 fastball to Austin Riley. The Braves batter hit the ball high into the netting in foul territory and rolled right into the hands of Fuentes’ father.

Fuentes’ dad pumped his fist and thanked the heavens for blessing him with a sweet souvenir. He flew all the way from Colombia to be in attendance for his son’s big day.
Didier Fuentes took the title of the youngest player in the MLB upon making his debut. He also became the youngest pitcher in 55 years to start for the Braves franchise.
Fuentes’ youth showed on Friday as he gave up four earned runs across five innings in his first taste of the majors. But at least his dad got his 15 minutes of fame.
