Report: Braves focused on trying to acquire Chris Sale
The Atlanta Braves have already added two veteran starters via free agency, but they apparently remain focused on making an even bigger splash in the trade market.
According to David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, White Sox pitcher Chris Sale is the main focus of the Braves, and they remain in contact with Chicago about a deal.
Sale would have a very large price tag in terms of prospects, but the Braves may see it as worth it to acquire an ace of his caliber.
The White Sox lefty is an elite starter, with four straight seasons finishing in the top five of AL Cy Young voting. As an added bonus, the 27-year-old is under a reasonable contract through 2019.
There are other starters that the Braves have reportedly eyed, but Sale is the best of them, and he appears to be the target.
