Braves have reportedly made ‘strong offer’ for JT Realmuto
JT Realmuto is one of the few players the Miami Marlins decided not to trade when they held a fire sale last winter, but that could change this offseason. Assuming they do part ways with Realmuto, the Atlanta Braves are among the teams who have the most interest in the star catcher.
Craig Mish of SiriusXM reported on Wednesday that the Braves have made a “strong offer” for Realmuto, but the Marlins would prefer to trade him outside of their division.
Sources indicate the Braves have a strong offer on the table for Marlins All Star Catcher J.T. Realmuto. MIA may prefer him dealt outside of NL East, but at this point team is operating as though a trade is likely to happen.

Sources also indicate Marlins are asking price on Realmuto is a high end young pitching prospect and a position player. A potential two for one.

The Marlins are in a total rebuilding phase and won 63 games this season, so they probably should be worried about getting the best return for their players rather than trying to ship them outside the NL East. If the Braves end up having the best offer, that is the one Miami should take.
Realmuto put together another quality season in 2018, batting .277 with 21 home runs and 74 RBI. The 27-year-old set career highs in homers, RBI, slugging percentage (.484) and OPS (.824). Realmuto is a career .279 hitter.
Offensive production is tough to come by from the catcher position, so you can understand why Realmuto is such a highly-coveted player. With another NL East team having made a run at him during the season, the Marlins may need to get over their unwillingness to make a deal with a division rival.
