The Atlanta Braves on Sunday announced some brutal news regarding Ronald Acuña Jr.
Acuña exited his Braves’ 8-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania after suffering a left knee injury on a non-contact play in the top of the first inning.
The Braves later announced that Acuña had suffered a torn ACL on the play, which will end his season.
OF Ronald Acuña Jr. tonight underwent an MRI that revealed a complete tear of the ACL in his left knee. He is set to undergo surgery at a date yet to be determined and will miss the remainder of the 2024 season.

Acuña led off the game with a double. But he was tagged out on the bases two batters later after going down with his injury while faking like he was going to run to third base.
This is the second time Acuña has suffered a torn ACL. The 26-year-old suffered a torn ACL in his right knee in 2021. The Braves went on to win the World Series that year even without him.
The reigning NL MVP, Acuña finishes his season batting .250 with a .716 OPS and 16 stolen bases in 49 games.
