Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker has decided to remain with the organization, but he will do so in a different role.
The Braves announced on Wednesday that Snitker is transitioning to an advisory role for the 2026 season. The team is also planning to induct Snitker into the Atlanta Braves Hall of Fame prior to a game next season.
Snitker has been the manager of the Braves since 2016 and with the organization for 49 years. The former catcher and first baseman signed with Atlanta as a player in 1977. Snitker played in the minors for the Braves until they released him in 1980, but he remained with the organization as a coach at the minor league level. He managed several minor league teams and also contributed as an assistant at the MLB level before being hired as the manager of the Braves.
ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports that Snitker is the one who made the decision to step down as manager of the Braves.
Snitker finishes with a record of 811-668 across 10 MLB seasons in Atlanta. The 69-year-old led the Braves to a World Series championship in 2021 and six consecutive NL East division titles from 2018-2023. Snitker was named the NL Manager of the Year in 2018.
The Braves finished 76-86 this season and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2017.
