The New York Mets are still searching for a new general manager after Sandy Alderson stepped aside for health reasons over the summer, and it sounds like they are zeroing in on his replacement.
Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that Brodie Van Wagenen, a player agent who is currently the co-head of CAA’s baseball division, is considered the “significant favorite” to land the Mets’ GM job.
Sources: CAA agent Brodie Van Wagenen has emerged as a significant favorite for the Mets’ general manager job. One source said the job is his if he wants it. Discussions are continuing, but the sense is that he will be the next head of baseball operations for the Mets.

Despite having no previous front office experience, Van Wagenen has been mentioned as one of three finalists for the job. He has some connections to the Mets, as he negotiated Yoenis Cespedes’ last deal with the team and also represents Tim Tebow.
