Bryce Harper agrees to record-setting deal with Phillies
The Philadelphia Phillies have finally landed their man.
According to multiple reports, the Phillies have agreed to a contract with free agent outfielder Bryce Harper. The deal is reportedly for a record amount, beating out the $325 million Giancarlo Stanton got from the Miami Marlins. There are no opt outs.
Bryce Harper’s deal with the Phillies will be for 13 years and $330M, league sources tell ESPN. It will not include any opt-outs.

The Phillies had been considered the favorite to sign Harper for quite some time, but there were reports this week about the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants were stepping up their efforts to sign the 26-year-old. A lot of that could have been an effort from Harper’s camp to get the Phillies to increase their offer, as they supposedly did not have the highest offer on the table for Harper at one point this week.
There had been talk that Harper did not want to play in Philly, but that clearly was not the case. He should be a perfect fit in a lineup that was in desperate need of a left-hander power hitter.
