In a rivalry-fueled mic drop moment that encapsulated the bad blood between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox, Cam Schlittler — A Boston native — delivered a post-victory shot straight to the heart of Red Sox Nation.

The 24-year-old pitcher, who grew up idolizing the team he just ousted from the playoffs, quipped without remorse after his game-sealing victory on Thursday.

Cam Schlittler after last night’s performance against the Red Sox:

“I’m happy that their season’s done,” he said.

Schlittler’s words, laced with gleeful schadenfreude, capped a historic Game 3 performance that propelled the New York Yankees into the ALDS.

The Wild Card Series had all the makings of October legend: The Red Sox took a one-game lead with a 3-1 victory before the Yankees stormed back with a thrilling, 4-3, Game 2 win. In the rubber game, Schlittler dazzled, becoming the first pitcher in postseason history to record eight-plus innings of no-run ball with 12-plus strikeouts and no walks.

The postgame interview with Meredith Marakovits amplified the personal stakes.

“You’ve been a Red Sox fan when you grew up, and then now all your friends back home are Red Sox fans. Have you heard from them at all?” she asked.

Schlittler, still buzzing from the adrenaline, fired back: “I mean, I haven’t said anything yet. But yeah, we’ll make sure they hear it a little bit once I get back on it.”

After being passed over by his hometown Red Sox in the 2022 MLB Draft, this full-circle revenge tale adds spice to a feud defined by curses and comebacks. As New York gears up for the ALDS, Schlittler’s shot heard ’round the suburbs ensures the banter won’t end here.

Red Sox fans, brace for the texts.
