Carlos Correa took clever swipe at Yankees after ALCS victory

Carlos Correa home run ear

Carlos Correa was flexing a bit after clinching a World Series berth on Friday.

After Correa’s Houston Astros closed out the New York Yankees in their ALCS series with a 6-4 victory in Game 6, the All-Star shortstop took a clever jab at the Yankees by playing on their “savages” nickname.

“It’s a great series,” said Correa, per Jeff Passan of ESPN. “We knew they had a great team. Like they call themselves, they’re savages. But in this jungle called the American League, we’re the apex predator.”

The Yankees had embraced the “savages” moniker this past season after manager Aaron Boone referred to them as such in an expletive-laden rant.

The 25-year-old Correa helped bring about the Yankees’ downfall though with some huge moments during the series, so he can afford to talk a bit of smack now that his team is back in the World Series.
