Clayton Kershaw caught on hot mic dissing Cal Raleigh at All-Star Game

Clayton Kershaw might just be the new Public Enemy No. 1 in Seattle.

The Los Angeles Dodgers star Kershaw, who was selected as an NL All-Star this year via MLB commissioner Rob Manfred’s “Legend Pick,” got to pitch in Tuesday’s All-Star Game at Truist Park in Atlanta, Ga. Kershaw took the mound to start the second inning for the NL and retired both batters that he faced. The former NL MVP got Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh to line out and then struck out Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. before being taken out of the game.

Kershaw was mic’d up during his time on the mound and was talking to FOX announcers Joe Davis and John Smoltz in the middle of play. Apparently though, the mic was still on even after Kershaw had exited the game.

As Kershaw was high-fiving his NL teammates upon returning to the dugout, he was caught on his hot mic dissing Raleigh. “Suck it, Big Dumper,” Kershaw said twice in reference to Raleigh’s famous nickname. Here is the video.

Raleigh might be the biggest rising star in Major League Baseball right now. He currently leads the big leagues with 38 home runs and just won the Home Run Derby on Monday night (an affair in which Raleigh received accusations of preferential treatment).

Clearly though, Kershaw, who was making his 11th career All-Star appearance to Raleigh’s first, was happy to get the better of “Big Dumper.” The Dodgers and the Mariners will face each other for a three-game interleague series from Sept. 26-28, but any future Kershaw-Raleigh matchups beyond that this year would have to come in a possible World Series meeting.
