Clint Frazier declines to speak with media after bad game in field
Clint Frazier declined to speak with the media on Sunday night after a bad game in the field cost the New York Yankees in their 8-5 loss to the Boston Red Sox.
Frazier was charged with an error and had some other defensive miscues during a bad seventh inning. He let a ball go under his glove on a routine single, giving the Red Sox an extra run and two extra bases. He let DJ LeMahieu make a play in shallow right field on a Mookie Betts popup. Then his misplay on a ball hit by Andrew Benintendi with two outs gave the Red Sox an extra run.

Frazier’s teammates had his back after the game, lending him support despite his mistakes. But Frazier ducking the media did not sit well with reporters and fans.
Clint Frazier “is not talking,” @YankeesPR announces.

Every spring, the Yankees spend hours counseling their players about the importance of always being accountable, good days and bad. Clint Frazier refused to speak tonight, leaving his teammates to answer questions about him.

Frazier, 24, has been hitting the ball well this year and seems to be fulfilling his potential as a batter. He’s hitting .272/.319/.517 with six doubles and 10 home runs in just 41 games. But his outfield defense has been an issue, leaving the Yankees fewer options with him. He often gets replaced late in games due to his defense and he could find playing time hard to come by when Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge return.
