Corey Seager could need offseason elbow surgery
Corey Seager may need to undergo elbow surgery in the offseason to address some of the issues bothering him.
Seager has been limited to mostly pinch-hitting duties over the past week because of a sore right elbow. He only began a throwing program on Monday.
The Dodgers shortstop, who is batting .309 with 19 home runs this season, hinted that he may need surgery during the offseason, according to the OC Register’s Bill Plunkett.
“It’s probably something in the off-season I’ll have to address more,” Seager said Monday, via Plunkett. “I’ll probably get another MRI and see if things got better or worse or different. It’s something that I’m not really trying to think about. Just go out and play.”
Seager underwent an MRI a week ago, which led to the decision for the team to shut him down. Los Angeles’ recent losing — they’ve dropped three consecutive series — has seemed to coincide with his absence from the starting lineup. The Dodgers obviously want to have him healthy for the playoffs, so they have enough time to take thing slowly with him. Then they might feel he could use a clean-up procedure during the offseason which hopefully would allow him to return in time for spring training.
