One Chicago Cubs fan offered up some encouragement that aged poorly in real time during Wednesday’s game against the Kansas City Royals at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Il.
Royals infielder Adam Frazier opened the top of the first inning with what looked like a routine fly ball to Cubs right field Seiya Suzuki. As the ball went in the air, the Cubs’ broadcast caught one fan yelling some encouragement to Suzuki.
“Seiya, all you baby. Can of corn,” the fan could be heard saying.
There was just one problem: Suzuki wound up dropping the baseball, allowing Frazier to reach second base.

The Royals wound up scoring twice in the inning and went on to win 8-4.
Normally, hot mic moments ensnare players or umpires. In this instance, it was an unlucky fan. Fortunately, his identity is unknown, and he would probably prefer to keep it that way.
Still, one can hardly blame the fan. Suzuki really should have made that catch.
