The Los Angeles Dodgers left their bats at home for their season opener against the rival San Francisco Giants on Thursday. Though manager Dave Roberts obviously wants to see more offense from his team, he did keep his sense of humor afterwards.
Roberts joked that he should have bat pitcher Clayton Kershaw in the third spot.
Clayton Kershaw had 2 of the Dodgers' 6 hits. “I probably should have hit Clayton third," joked Dave Roberts

Kershaw went 2-for-2 and accounted for a third of the team’s six hits. Yasmani Grandal had two others, while Matt Kemp went 1-for-3 with a walk and Chase Utley delivered a pinch hit single.
The Dodgers were shutout 1-0, with Joe Panik’s solo shot in the fifth accounting for the only run of the game. There will be more offense from both teams the rest of the season.
