David Price not thinking of opting out of contract
Boston Red Sox pitcher David Pricee can opt out of his contract at the end of this season, but that’s not really at the forefront of his thoughts right now.
Price said that the focus for now remains on ensuring the Red Sox keep winning, and that he hasn’t given any thought to how he’ll handle his contract.
Asked David Price about possibility of opting out after this year. He said, “I want to win, I want to win here and I want to win now. We all know the amount of ability we have in this clubhouse … I’m focused on winning right now. I haven’t thought about opting out.” @MLB

There’s no rush, mostly because Price has a lot of season left. He has to be confident that he’ll beat the four years and $127 million left on his Red Sox deal if he does opt out. He’ll be 33 years old by season’s end, and with a 4.44 ERA and questions about his mentality and ability to beat Boston’s chief rivals, it may end up being in his best interest to stay right where he is.
