Dodgers coach could be hired for manager job
The Los Angeles Dodgers just won the World Series, and already they could be losing someone.
First base coach Clayton McCullough has been in talks with the Miami Marlins about their manager job. On Thursday, ESPN’s Jeff Passan said that things could accelerate between McCullough and the Marlins now that the season has ended.
The way Passan presented the news makes it seem as if the hire is imminent.
Los Angeles Dodgers first-base coach Clayton McCullough is a candidate for the Miami Marlins managerial job, sources tell ESPN. McCullough and the Marlins have been in contact throughout their search, and talks could accelerate now following the Dodgers’ World Series win.

The Marlins were also looking at Will Venables and Craig Albernaz for the job. Venables has already been hired by the White Sox to serve as their next manager, and Albernaz reportedly has withdrawn from consideration for the Marlins gig. That’s another sign the job may be going to McCullough.
McCullough, 44, has been a first base coach for the Dodgers since 2021. Before that, he was a minor league field coordinator for the team. Being a coach for a team that just won the World Series certainly helps his resume.
