Dodgers pitching prospect retires to become model
James Carter may not have achieved his ultimate goal of playing in baseball at the Major League level, but the pitching prospect announced this week that he is embarking on an exciting new career adventure — modeling.
Carter, a 25-year-old prospect who was with the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, announced in an Instagram post on Friday that he is retiring from baseball. He ended the post with “stay tuned.”
On Saturday, Carter revealed that he has decided to go into professional modeling. He’s now going by the name James Turlington, which is his middle name. He shared some of his modeling shots on Instagram:
Carter posted a 5-2 record and 3.79 ERA across three seasons in the minors. Considering some of the complaints we have heard about lower-level pro baseball in recent years, you can’t blame him for pursuing another career if he didn’t think he could make it to the big show.
