Dodgers sign Scott Kazmir to three year deal
The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to work to address their rotation, signing Scott Kazmir to a contract.
Kazmir will receive $48 million over three years from the Dodgers, with an opt-out clause after the first year. The deal will not cost the Dodgers their first round draft pick as compensation.
The lefty started last season with Oakland before a trade to Houston in July. He posted a 3.10 ERA in 183 innings between the two teams.
The Dodgers are still trying to replace Zack Greinke, and they’ve also been linked to Japanese right-hander Kenta Maeda. With the opt-out, the Kazmir deal may end up being a one year pact. That would allow Kazmir to cash in on a weak free agent market, and the Dodgers would be able to look at options such as Stephen Strasburg, who will be due to hit the market, or perhaps trade for a young starter near free agency.
