Vin Scully jokes about home fall in video message to fans

Vin Scully

Vin Scully is providing a reassuring, firsthand update to fans after his recent hospitalization.

The legendary LA Dodgers broadcaster released a video message through the team Monday in which he revealed that he had returned home after spending five days in the hospital following a fall at his home. Scully jokingly called it his “headfirst sliding accident” and added that “I was called out.”

You can listen to the message here, in which Scully also thanks everyone for their support and offers gratitude to first responders (before delivering an anticipatory “It will be time for Dodger baseball” for good measure):

The 92-year-old Scully retired in 2016 after an unforgettable career that saw him become one of the most beloved broadcasters in sports history. His 67-year run of calling games for the Dodgers is a record for any sportscaster with a single team.

That said, Scully seems to be happily retired and has since turned down overtures to return to the booth. If Monday’s message is any indication however, Scully has definitely still got it.
