Report: Dodgers would like to retain Rich Hill beyond 2016
Despite his injury issues, the Los Angeles Dodgers like Rich Hill enough that they’d like to keep him in the fold beyond the end of the season.
According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, the Dodgers “are in love” with Hill and would like to re-sign the pitcher to a multi-year extension before he hits free agency at season’s end.
It’s quite the story for Hill, who spent part of 2015 in the independent league. He has a 1.94 ERA in 16 starts this year with 101 strikeouts in 88 innings, mostly with Oakland. In two starts since moving to the Dodgers, he has yet to allow a run in twelve innings.
Hill has been plagued by blister problems since the Dodgers acquired him at the trade deadline. He’ll turn 37 next March, so he’s not a candidate for a very lengthy deal, but he’s pitching great and the Dodgers clearly love what they see.
