Dustin Pedroia’s latest knee issue is unrelated to surgery
Dusitn Pedroia is back on the disabled list after he experienced soreness in his surgically-repaired left knee, but the veteran second baseman got some positive news about his latest injury on Tuesday.
According to Red Sox manager Alex Cora, Pedroia met with his surgeon and was told the soreness he felt in his knee is unrelated to the surgery he underwent last October.
“With Pedey, everything about the surgery is fine,” Cora said after Boston’s 6-0 win over the Detroit Tigers, per Evan Drellich of NBC Sports Boston. “He just has some inflammation. I was actually talking to him during the game. It’s kind of like with David [Price], after he saw the doctor, now he can calm down and get treatment and hopefully he’ll be with us sooner than later. It’s nothing that has to do with surgery, so that’s good.”
Cora said Pedroia will have treatment on his knee and could resume baseball activities within a couple of days, but it would not be a surprise if the Red Sox are cautious with him. Pedroia played in only three games after coming off the DL before he experienced the pain, and Boston has been winning without him.
