Dustin Pedroia ‘not sure’ if he will be able to play again
Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia’s career is officially in jeopardy thanks to a very troublesome knee.
Pedroia spoke Monday about the pain he’s endured, and admitted that he’s “not sure” if the knee will allow him to play baseball again.
Dustin Pedroia, "The last game I played, the pain was kind of to the point I had to tell the trainer I had to come out. It was a tough day. Next day, I woke up and it wasn't any better. It's too a point now where my knee is not allowing me to play every day. "

Pedroia: 'I'm at a point right now where I need some time. That's what my status is' Said he's not considering another surgery. Asked if he thought he could play again: 'I'm not sure.'

"Some days, I feel fine, and an hour later, walking is tough. If I'm on an hour to hour basis of being able to do anything athletically, that's tough. I think the time will give me the right answer of if I can do this." — Pedroia.

Pedroia’s comments come on the heels of a rehab assignment cut short. He has played just nine MLB games since the start of the 2018 season, and the knee surgery he underwent at the end of the 2017 season clearly has not corrected the problem. Combine that with the fact that he turns 36 in August and it’s a long road back for one of the most iconic Red Sox players ever, and it brings the admission that we may have seen him play for the last time.
