Francisco Lindor sends Mets to postseason with huge home run

Mets players celebrate

Francisco Lindor came up big for his New York Mets on Monday.

Lindor went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBIs while leading his Mets to an 8-7 win over the Atlanta Braves in the first game of their doubleheader at Truist Park in Atlanta, Ga. Lindor hit an RBI single during a 6-run 8th inning for the Mets. Then he came up huge in the top of the 9th inning with a go-ahead 2-run home run that stood as the difference.

The Mets shortstop delivered a big bomb to the Braves’ bullpen in right-center field to put his team on top for good:

That was Lindor’s 33rd home run of the season and arguably his biggest one. He’s also up to 91 RBIs.

The win in Game 1 of the doubleheader ensured the Mets would make the postseason. A win in the second game would give them the No. 5 seed, while a loss would keep them in the No. 6 spot in the NL.
