Hector Santiago wears cleats with father’s face on them

All around Major League Baseball, teams wore uniforms with blue accents for Father’s Day. There were cool moments all across the majors, including ceremonial first pitches involving fathers and memorable pregame events. One Angels pitcher did something unique to honor his father.

Prior to Sunday’s game between the Angels and A’s, Hector Santiago wore cleats with “Happy Father’s Day.” In addition to those words was an image of his father.

Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are always special ones on the baseball calendar. Some players have parents at the stadium on those days. Posting family photos on social media accounts is popular. Most have a way of honoring their mother and father on their respective day. Santiago going with the custom cleats complete with picture is top notch. Well done, Hector.
