Jean Segura appreciates apology from Arquimedes Caminero
Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Jean Segura has forgiven Pittsburgh Pirates reliever Arquimedes Caminero for hitting him and another teammate in the head during Tuesday’s game.
Caminero drilled Segura in the head in the seventh, leading Segura to be taken to the hospital for examination. Then in the eighth, Caminero was ejected after plunking Nick Ahmed.
Caminero has walked 13 and hit three batters in 17.1 innings this season, so it’s clear he has control problems. That plus his apparently sincere apology has led Segura to forgive the Pirates pitcher.
#Dbacks Jean Segura on Camminero: I don’t think it was intentional. I know this guy. I was in that division before and I faced him a lot.

#Dbacks Segura on Camminero: I got a text from him & he apologized and said it wasn’t on purpose. He said to tell Nick it was not on purpose

#Dbacks Segura on Camminero: When people apologize like that and you wake up and see his text apologizing, it means he’s a good person

Segura, who is from the Dominican Republic like Caminero, was referencing his time with the Milwaukee Brewers when speaking about knowing the pitcher from being in the division with him.
