Jeff Samardzija on schedule to return to Giants’ rotation soon
Jeff Samardzija is on schedule to return to the San Francisco Giants’ rotation soon.
Giants manager Bruce Bochy spoke with the media before Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers and provided an update on Shark. Bochy said Samardzija’s velocity was up during a rehab start on Friday and that he will likely need just one more rehab start before rejoining the club.
Bochy offered an encouraging report on Jeff Samardzija. Said his velo was back at 94-95 mph with command in 3 IP for Sacramento yesterday. Likely one more rehab start. Back in rotation in 10 days or so from now.

Samardzija dealt with a pectoral injury in spring training that delayed his season debut. Then he had a shoulder injury that caused him to be placed on the DL. He was getting hit hard this season and is 1-4 with a 6.56 ERA.
The Giants, who are hovering around .500, should be encouraged. They recently got Madison Bumgarner back, and Johnny Cueto is working his way back from an elbow injury. They may not be too far off from having their complete rotation in action.
