Jonny Gomes is looking to extend his career in MLB, only now he’ll be doing so as a coach.
Gomes, who had a 13-year MLB career and was a favorite among his teammates and fans at many of his stops, has taken a job as a hitting coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks’ rookie-level team. The Tampa Bay Times’ Marc Topkin reported the news on Thursday:

Gomes, 37, last played in MLB for the Braves and Royals in 2015 (he even gave a speech at the World Series parade). He then looked to play in Japan briefly. Last year, Gomes served as a broadcaster/analyst for NESN.
