Jose Fernandez’s friend Eddy Rivero sent ominous text message prior to fatal crash
A text message sent by one of the men who died in the fatal boating crash on Sunday off the coast in South Florida that killed Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez is chilling and eerie given what later transpired.
Eddy Rivero is one of the three men who died in the crash, along with Fernandez and Emilio Macias. In a text message conversation with a friend, Rivero hinted at potential danger ahead by saying “Trust me. It’s not my time.”
Here’s a look at the text message conversation Rivero had with a friend prior to the fatal boat crash:

WPLG in Miami also reports that Fernandez was “stressed out” and “needed to blow off steam.”
Rivero’s friends said Fernandez was stressed out about something and needed to blow off steam on the water.
They said Rivero messaged another friend and was hesitant about going out on the boat, but went anyway to keep Fernandez close to shore.
One of Rivero’s last texts to a friend was: “Trust me. It’s not my time.”
Fernandez was spotted at a bar in Miami around 2 a.m. on Sunday, according to TMZ. The boat he was aboard was found crashed a little more than an hour afterwards.
All seemed to be going great in Fernandez’s life from the outside. The Marlins pitcher was coming off an eight-inning shutout where he allowed just three hits and struck out 12 in what he said was his best start ever. The 24-year-old had also recently revealed his girlfriend was pregnant.
