The Detroit Tigers knew they were getting a defensive wizard when they traded for Jose Iglesias, but do you think they knew he’d be capable of making these types of plays?
During the bottom of the sixth inning of the Tigers’ 6-2 loss to the Chicago White Sox, Iglesias made an incredible play to get out Sox catcher Josh Phegley. Phegley was jammed on a pitch and hit a soft liner past pitcher Doug Fister. The ball had a ton of spin as it headed toward shortstop, where Iglesias hustled to make a bare-handed pickup and throw as he was falling down. I mean Iglesias was literally parallel to the ground when he made that throw, yet he still got Phegley. Awesome.
