Donaldson has not played for the Jays since May 28, when he suffered the calf injury. He was close to being ready for a rehab game until this setback.
It’s been a rough season for Donaldson. First he dealt with a dead arm early in the season that caused him to miss three weeks in April. Then he suffered the calf injury late in May.
Donaldson was batting just .234/.333/.423 in 36 games this season. The Jays are 37-41 this season.
