Justin Bour ‘surprised’ by trade to Phillies
The Miami Marlins have sold off yet another one of their veteran pieces in Justin Bour, and it appears to have come as a bit of a shock to him.
Bour, who was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday, said that he was “surprised” by the move and would have enjoyed being a part of the Marlins’ rebuild. He did add though that he was excited to join a contending team in the NL East-leading Phillies, per Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald.

The 30-year-old Bour is hitting .227/.347/.412 with 19 home runs and 54 RBIs this season. He projects to be a solid power hitter for Philadelphia and should have a chance to improve on those numbers in a more potent Phillies lineup.
As for the Marlins, they have now traded away Bour, Cameron Maybin, and Brad Ziegler in just the last two weeks alone. Now it is worth wondering if another veteran may be next to go before the Aug. 31 waiver trade deadline.
