Khris Davis proclaims that Athletics are going to playoffs after walkoff win
Oakland A’s slugger Khris Davis was feeling good after Sunday’s walkoff win, good enough to make a confident declaration about his team’s future.
After Davis drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth inning to earn the 6-5 victory over the Texas Rangers, he proclaimed that the team would make the playoffs this year, per Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Despite having roughly 55 games left to go in the season, Oakland is in good position to deliver on Davis’ prediction. They are now second in the American League West at 60-47 and currently hold the second AL Wild Card Spot.
Granted, both the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays are lurking just half a game behind them, while the Los Angeles Angels are still in the hunt at five games behind. But Oakland is clearly going for it having acquired both starter Homer Bailey and reliever Jake Diekman ahead of the trade deadline. The playoff race has not come without some fireworks for the team either.
