Lucas Giolito caused Matt Olson to lose his batting glove waving at changeup
Lucas Giolito was so nasty on Sunday that he caused an opponent to lose an unusual piece of equipment on a swing.
Giolito struck out 13 over six innings in a 2-0 loss to the Oakland A’s. He fooled Matt Olson on a changeup in the sixth inning that saw Olson’s batting glove fly off:

And, that's a first here… pic.twitter.com/BpIO2A8DZp

We’ve seen players lose a helmet or bat on a swing. Some even get brought to their knees. But losing a batting glove seems like a first.
Even though Giolito fooled Olson on that pitch to strike him out, Olson still had the advantage. He got Giolito with a 2-run home run in the fourth, which accounted for the only runs of the game.
Giolito is 12-6 with a 3.42 ERA and 171 strikeouts in 136.2 innings this season.
