The Baltimore Orioles’ MLB-worst season seems to be getting to star player Manny Machado, and now he is apologizing for letting his frustration show.
During a 3-2 loss to the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday, Machado failed to run out a double-play ball he hit with the bases loaded in the sixth inning and promptly got booed by the home fans at Camden Yards.

On Wednesday, Orioles manager Buck Showalter said that he met with the three-time All-Star over the play, calling it “a bad look.” Machado himself also came out and apologized, saying that there was “no excuse” for his poor effort.

While the free-agent-to-be Machado is having another excellent year of production, the O’s continue to have the lousiest record in baseball, now at a woeful 23-55. He has also been a popular subject of trade rumors in the last few months (with another prominent team recently emerging as a contender). That makes the timing of the incident even worse as it gives off the impression that Machado might be checked out of Baltimore.
