Manny Machado booed during incredibly slow home run trot
Manny Machado absolutely crushed a home run against the Red Sox. Then, he took his time rounding the bases.
During the sixth inning of Monday’s game, Machado got hold of a pitch from Rick Porcello and launched it over the Green Monster for a solo home run, which gave Baltimore a 2-0 lead. The Orioles third baseman was then showered with boos as he made his way around the bases. Here’s video of the blast with audio of fans letting him have it.

Since the beginning of the 2015 season, Machado has hit 77 home runs, including the one on Monday. According to MLB’s Statcast, Machado has only one home run trot slower than this one over that period.
.@statcast had Manny Machado's home run trot at 29.2 seconds… Since 2015 he's only had one slower trot than that.

Coming into Monday, Machado was already not a very popular man in the Boston area. Late last month, Red Sox pitcher Matt Barnes was ejected from a game against the Orioles after throwing behind Machado up around the head area. You can read more about what happened that day here.
Leading up to this four-game series, many had their eyes on Machado after what happened in Baltimore. He certainly did not disappoint in the first game.
