It’s been a whirlwind weekend for Washington Nationals first baseman Mark Reynolds.
On Friday, Reynolds hit a walk-off home run to beat the Miami Marlins. He followed it up Saturday by homering twice and driving in ten runs against the Marlins in an emphatic victory.
The tables turned on Sunday, however, as Reynolds was brought on as a relief pitcher to get the final out of what turned out to be a 10-2 Miami victory.
Concluding what is surely one of the most bizarre three-game stretches in baseball history, Reynolds said he was terrified when he got out on the mound.
Mark Reynolds says the last time he pitched in a game was Little League. Had been asking Davey to do it for a little bit now. Said he had all these things he planned to do if he ever pitched…and then got out there and was so nervous he just tried not to hit anyone.

Reynolds managed to get the only batter he faced out, and he had something resembling a knuckleball, which beats this outfielder’s efforts. Still, he’s probably looking forward to driving in more runs.
